Typical Day-to-Day as a Security Guard
Your role will be to monitor, patrol and control access to the premises, ensuring only authorised personnel and visitors gain entrance. Daily, you’ll conduct frequent patrols to spot suspicious activities and enforce company security procedures.
Other regular activities include staff and vehicle searches, investigating incidents and actively reporting any signs of damage or illegal activity to management. Order and safety are amongst your primary goals.
Excellent customer service is also necessary. You’ll greet customers, help staff, and maintain a professional yet approachable attitude throughout your day-to-day duties.
Additionally, keeping thorough records in registers and occurrence books, following opening/closing protocols, and managing emergencies form part of your core responsibilities.
You’ll be expected to operate video surveillance and alarm systems, and ensure the premises are continually secure, even after hours when working late or alone.
